UX can make or break a product. A poor UX can be the biggest roadblock in user adoption. Bulding an effective UX requires identifying and researching user personas, mapping out user journeys through the application, and ideally, UX testing with real users. Many early-stage startups may outsource UX design, but most fail to do any in-depth user UX research. 

Many startups have little to no security expertise in-house, so they fail to implement any internal security policies or processes until they are faced with a security review from a potential customer. Many who do not have enterprise customers do not address security until they are faced with a security breach.
